The Rector’s Sports Day – The Faculty of management won the Duel of Faculties
On Wednesday, 28 April, the Rector’s Sports Day organized by the Centre for Physical Education and Sport and the Event Centre of the University of Economics took place. which. Students, employees and teachers could have participated in many sports activities including:
- Football and basketball tournaments took place in the Jarov campus,
- volleyball, floorball and tennis tournaments were held at Třebešín,
- a walk through Prague’s forest parks,
- and for the most adventurous there was a kayak run down the Sázava River.
The Rector’s Sports Day culminated in the Jarov campus, where the first edition of the Faculty Duel took place. The event was significantly supported by the Jarov Dormitories (SÚZ). More than a thousand people from all faculties took part and competed together for the Rector’s Cup. The Faculty of Management won the Duel of Faculties and thus became the first holder of this cup. The faculties’ points were multiplied by a coefficient derived from the number of students in the faculty, so as to make the competition fair.
The duel included fun competitions that every visitor of the event could try out at Jarov campus. These small competitions included – super softball, crazy stilts, NHL test – goal shooting, lasergame – biathlon and a short orienteering game called “Píchač”.
In addition to the small competitions, there were three big competitions taking place right in front of the podium with the winner team taking 150 points for their faculty, second team taking 100 points and third team taking 50 points. These competitions were:
- Knock in a nail – a duel of representatives of the faculties in agility and nail hammering – the NF won
- Bring sally up – boys and girls doing press-ups to the rhythm aka who can last the longest wins – the best girl is from FM and the best guy is from FPH
- Atlas powerlifting – the biggest faculty powerlifters competed in the weightlifting competition – the winner was the FPH powerlifter
Dj Diplomatiq played from 4 pm and after 6 pm the band Jokers added their great set. Both musical performances were performed by graduates of the University of Economics.
Refreshments, other sports activities and gifts for the competition were prepared by our event partners.
The event was a great success, and you can look forward to next year’s continuation of the Duel of the Faculties and other new additions. Congratulations to the Faculty of Management for this year’s victory and we believe that the other faculties will not be put to shame and will try to take the traveling cup from this year’s winner next time.
