Dobrodata 2025 at VŠE

The Dobrodata conference, held on 3 September 2025 at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE), demonstrated that data can have a far greater impact than merely serving as a tool for measurement or analysis. It was an event that brought together experts from business, academia and the non-profit sector, showing that technology and numbers make the most sense when they serve people and society. As the VŠE Event Centre, we had the honour of co-organising this inspiring conference, whose main organiser was VŠE’s general partner, Česká spořitelna.

Throughout the day, a wide range of presentations addressed topics such as education, health, safety, and the issue of disinformation. Participants had the opportunity to hear real-life stories and learn about projects focusing on disease prevention, road safety, the destigmatisation of HIV, and the use of data within non-profit organisations. Considerable attention was also given to the subject of palliative care, which illustrated how high-quality data can help us better understand the needs of patients and their families. The conference was opened by VŠE Vice-Rector for Development and Corporate Relations, Ota Novotný, who emphasised the importance of combining education and technology with purpose and social responsibility. The day’s atmosphere was further enhanced by the moderator Kovy, who presented the professional topics in an accessible and engaging manner.

The conference brought together hundreds of participants, including students, professionals and representatives of the non-profit sector, who collectively demonstrated that dialogue across disciplines is not only possible but also extremely valuable. The event also carried a charitable dimension, with proceeds directed to support the work of the Forum of Mobile Hospices. Thanks to the combination of the academic environment, the strong partnership of Česká spořitelna, and the dedication of the organisers, it was possible to create a platform that not only inspires but also makes a real difference in people’s lives.

As the VŠE Event Centre, we are proud to have provided the venue, technical facilities and organisational support for the entire day, and to have worked alongside Česká spořitelna to show that data can truly be a tool for good. Dobrodata is not merely a one-off event, but an impetus for us to start thinking about data differently – with regard to people, society, and the future.
