From Life at VŠE – Half the Semester Has Passed
The first half of the winter semester 2024/2025 is already over, which can mean only one thing – another part of our series “From Life at VŠE” is here. Let’s recap the events held at the Prague University of Economics and Business during the past few weeks of classes.
The Young Political Scientists Club hosted several interesting events. One of the first was a club Meet & Greet, where students could meet members of the student organization and decide if they wanted to join. Additionally, the club organized a debate titled “Political Marketing & the Career of an Ambassador with Matt Field”. Another student group worth mentioning is the Accounting Friends Club, which held a lecture titled “Fraud Not Only in Accounting”, featuring special guests Doc. Ing. Ladislav Mejzlík, Ph.D., and Doc. The Investor’s Club has also been active, organizing several events, including a lecture titled “Investment Evening with @absurdtrader”, featuring Jan Barta from Pale Fire Capital. That same week, they hosted an Investment Pub Quiz and a lecture in English titled “Challenges and Opportunities in Private Banking”. During Innovation Week, students participated in a PwC Workshop with the M&A Team, experiencing the role of an M&A advisor. The VŠE Travelers’ Club at VŠE organized events like “Gap Year Travel: New Zealand” and “Samba, Waterfalls, Southern Cities, and Patagonian Wilderness”. Visit their Facebook page (Klub cestovatelů VŠE) for more.
The student club We Study at FBA (Studujeme FPH) hosted a workshop titled “Productivity and Time Management”, teaching students effective planning techniques like Timeboxing. For more, follow them on Instagram (studujemefph) and Facebook (Studujeme FPH).
Last but not least, students could also attend and enjoy the Chess Tournament organized by the VŠE Chess Club, open to beginners and advanced players, with the winner crowned Champion of VŠE. Check their Instagram (clubchess.club) for more events.
Apart from events mentioned above The Junior Diplomat Initiative presented a discussion titled “Diplomatic Missions in Times of Conflict: Russia’s Vision of a Multipolar World”, featuring Vítězslav Pivoňka, former Czech Ambassador to Russia. The Prague Banking Club held a workshop titled “EY: When One Company Buys Another – Financial Due Diligence”. Learn more on their Facebook (Prague Banking Club).
As every semester, there was a concert where the VŠE Symphony Orchestra performed, this time supporting a primary school in Gambia, with all proceeds benefiting children’s education in underdeveloped areas of Africa. Find more on Facebook (Orchestr VŠE).
Dance lovers enjoyed two dance lessons organized by the All Arts Club in the Rajská Building. Check their Facebook (All Arts Club) and Instagram (allartsclub).
The Student Club of Commerce and Competitiveness (SKOK)hosted the popular Business Cocktail, where students could network with business professionals and enjoy an entertaining evening. Updates are on Instagram (skokvse) and Facebook (SKOK).
The Tax Club organized a lecture on “Influencers, Streamers, and YouTubers”, providing insights into taxation for YouTube, HeroHero, and Instagram incomes. Follow them on Instagram (klubdanaru) and Facebook (Klub daňařů).
The MUN Prague Student Club held a lecture on “Introduction to Debating”, where students learned debate techniques from the founder of the Debate Journal (Debatnídenník) on YouTube. More details on Instagram (munprague) and Facebook (MUN Prague).
Several student clubs collaborated to create the “Forum for the Future”, a platform for discussing current and future challenges.
